Aluminum Ceiling Tile
Aluminum ceiling are what you would usually see in houses and buildings because they are the most widely available, and they are not that expensive compared to other materials.
While they are installed directly under joists or the support to the upper floor, some structures utilize aluminum ceiling tiles to build dropped or aluminum suspended ceilings.
To build a dropped ceiling, one end of the hanger wires would be bolted on the real ceiling and at the other end of these wires, several beams would be put in place, creating a checkered pattern suspended below the ceiling. Once the frame of the suspended ceiling is built, the ceiling tiles would them be added between the beams, and after completion, the dropped ceiling would look like it is the real ceiling of the structure.
Dropped ceilings are often applied to offices to hide unsightly pipes or electrical wirings that are usually located below the real ceiling. This type of ceiling also allows devices like speakers and smoke detectors to be applied to the ceiling, and their wires or cables will be neatly hidden away from view if they are placed on top of the tiles.
Typical ceiling tiles nowadays are made of mineral fiber that can have inherent noise reduction qualities, which is another reason why it is used in offices and apartments.
