How much Does a Aluminum Ceiling Cost?

Aluminum ceiling gives any room a lustrous look that any other type of material can just hope to emulate.Aluminum ceiling tiles are a great addition to any room you wish to showcase. The light they reflect back down on the room can greatly enhance other features. Most metal ceiling tiles are made from aluminum due to their light weight and cheap cost. There are, literally, thousands of patterns and colors you can choose from. Most manufacturers have an option of submitting your own design from aluminum  ceiling tiles, at an extra cost, of course. You can even get metal ceiling tiles that replicate some of the world's most famous paintings.

Aluminum ceiling tiles will work with any standard acoustical ceiling grid system. They make most aluminum ceiling tiles in 2x2 or 2x4 foot measurements. If you are looking for the sound dampening and insulating properties of traditional acoustical panels, you can simply add the panel on top of your aluminum ceiling to give your metal ceiling the same qualities.

Metal Ceiling Tile Prices

Setting up a metal ceiling is exactly the same as a traditional acoustical ceiling grid. The ceiling grid, itself, will typically cost about $1 to $3 per square foot of ceiling. Tin ceilings will cost between $3 and $10 per panel for an average designed panel, depending on the size of the panel. Custom panels and irregular sized panels will cost more. If you are customizing a panel, the manufacturer will charge you with a panel pressing cost. This includes making a metal die which will allow them to transfer the image to an aluminum or tin ceiling panel.

Making a single custom panel will typically cost no less than $300. That price is due to overhead costs, but the more panels you need will make the price per panel cheaper. In other words, a single custom 2x2 foot panel will cost $300, but 30 panels of the same type may cost as little as $400.

If you wish to use a tin ceiling panel system along with a traditional insulated acoustical ceiling panel system, your costs will rise by about $3 to $4 per square foot for materials and installation. Basement installations, which are typical with this type of system, can benefit from the added insulation properties of traditional acoustical panels. They have heat trapping properties, and along with the heat reflecting properties of tin ceilings, will allow you to keep heat in your basement and therefore your total heating bill down.
